MineCore Download

With the end of MineCore, the entire server, all of it's world files, plugin files, and everything else used to run the server are now available for download. You are free to do whatever you want with these files as they are released in the public domain. I do not believe these files are worth anything to me anymore but instead of deleting them, I believe I can make it of use to someone else. If you are interested here are the instructions to download MineCore:

Note: The download is in 10 parts of the file (190MB per file). Unfortunately MediaFire limits file size to 200MB when you use it for free.
  1. Go to http://www.mediafire.com/?78d8kbh5p8z7v
  2. Download all the files in there. Each file will begin with minecore.zip and end with a dot and then a number.
  3. Save all 10 files in the same folder.
  4. Open minecore.zip.001 with 7-Zip
  5. You can now view all of the files.
  6. Extract them and do whatever you want with them.
  7. Have fun (hopefully) and host it again if you want.
Please be aware that the size of the download (all 10 files) is 1.8 gigabytes and the size of all the files extracted is 3.3 gigabytes.

Note: I removed the dynmap tiles (5.6GB) to reduce the size of the download. If you wish to regenerate them, run the server and execute the following commands:

  • dynmap fullrender world
  • dynmap fullrender world_nether
  • dynmap fullrender world_the_end
  • dynmap fullrender creative
  • dynmap fullrender creative_nether
  • dynmap fullrender creative_the_end

This will take a while to regenerate the tiles and may cause some lag. When it's finished you should have 5.6GB of dynmap tiles in plugins\dynmap\web\tiles\

Have fun hopefully.

Bye

Probably The Last Post Ever

This is probably the last post you will ever see on the MineCore website. The server will not return unless the forum becomes more active by December 31st 2013. If there is enough server activity by then to make the server worth hosting again, then MineCore will return. If this fails to happen, MineCore will not return. The world and server files will be made available for download. It will be placed in the public domain if this happens, meaning that you can (if you want) choose to continue MineCore on your own as  your own server. ~Mine never wanted the end to be this way but paying the price of DDoS attack possibilityes, possibilities of getting hacked, some in-game lag when he plays Minecraft while the server is running, and a slow internet that happens sometimes is no longer worth it. He would be very willing to pay this price if MineCore was worth hosting. The return or fate of MineCore depends on, not ~Mine, but everyone (if any) who come back to see this site. Will MineCore return by December 31st 2013, or will it fail to do so and be placed in the public domain?

Going public is a risk for ~Mine

I am sorry to announce that I have made a mistake with saying that I would go public. I just really can't take the risk. The plugin I found for AntiDDos doesn't work (based on many negative reviews I read) and I can't afford software to protect against DDoS attacks. It' sjust too much of a risk for me to host MineCore as a public server on my home computer. It's sad that it has to end this way (unless the forums become more active with the Imagine Nation members). I just can't host MineCore with no one on. It uses up my internet speed so for hosting a good server I have to pay a price of some occasional internet lag and multiplayer lag on other servers. Once in a while it can make my computer slow. I am not willing to pay this price if no one ever comes on the server and I'm certainly not willing to go public because if I get DDoS attacked, my parents will kill me literally (not literally but you know what I mean :P). I have the server files if there is (hopefully) someone who would host MineCore. The requirements are a good computer (Intel i7 processor or AMD equivalent), 4GB dedicated RAM to the server, and a decent hard drive (preferably SSD but regular hard drives are OK if it's decent since SSDs are ridiculously expensive). I don't think anything will happen here on unless I can earn the money to pay for a host. I'm hoping to be able to get about $10 a month soon if I can to pay for a server with 1GB RAM on MCProHosting. It may happen or it may not. The fate depends, not on me, but on the number of players and the money I can earn to pay for hosting MineCore........

The Server Is 99.9% Inactive

THIS MAY ACTUALLY BE THE END OF MINECORE BUT THERE STILL IS HOPE!!!!

At this point in time (3 months after the beginning of the server), no one, not even one person has been coming on the server. Since the return of MineLife (Imagine Nation server), the number of active players on MineCore has been dropping. ~Mine already came extremely close to closing the server once, it could happen again. For the entire month of June 2013, the only players who have been online were about 3 random people who found the server. They were only online for about 2 minutes before quitting, as it seems, never to return again. As far as it seems, there doesn't appear to be any point in hosting the server. ~Mine put in a lot of effort to manage and host the server. He spent hours researching ways to fix problems, features and plugins that would make the server better, managing configs, and checking on the server to make sure it's running fine. All this effort isn't worth it (as of right now). If you have anything to say about this post, please reply to it in the forum topic (under the News sub-forum). Click on 2013-06-22 The Server Is 100% Inactive, then login/create an account, and finally click reply, type in your message, and post it. Until the forum begins to get more active, the server will be down and unavailable. If the server becomes worth managing again when the forum begins to get more active and players are more willing to join, it will be up again.
Until then.......

Possibility of Switching to MCProHosting

Hi everyone. It's been a while since the last post but here is a new one!

I was considering switching to a server host. The 2 best hosts I found were BeastNode and MCProHosting. I have made a compare and contrast list of both hosts. Some of it uses basic math and the costs/slots use some algebra with linear functions. If you don't know how to do it, sorry. Check beastnode.com and mcprohosting.com for more information.

Costs represented by a linear function f(ram in GB) = cost in USD ($)
BeastNode: f(ram)=(14.644 * ram) + 0.7022
****MCProHosting: f(ram)=(14.2877 * ram) - 3.8548
Notice that MCProHosting is cheaper because it has a smaller slope and smaller y-intercept.

Slots (MCProHosting represented as f(ram in GB) = maximum slots)
BeastNode: Unlimited but a suggested amount is given.
MCProHosting: f(ram)=(17.6825 * x) + 2.4025 or $2/month for unlimited.
MCProHosting provides a decent amount anyway. I wouldn't host more than 16 players per gigabyte of RAM. f(1)=20 (actually 23) and f(2)=38 (approximate)

Processors
BeastNode: Intel Xeon
MCProHosting: Xeon dual-core
Both are pretty good. I have no concerns with either processor.

Connection
BeastNode: 1gbps network with unlimited bandwidth
MCProHosting: 50gbps network and unlimited bandwidth
IDC about the network much. Both are way more than necessary. My home internet is about 1/40th the speed of the BeastNode 1gbps network and we're still fine.

Control Panel
Both provide Multicraft control panel.

Mods
Both have support for CraftBukkit and more. (We only need CraftBukkit)

Dedicated IP
****BeastNode: Provided free with default port at purchase
MCProHosting: Not provided by default but they have it for $5 per month
I honestly don't mind a non-dedicated IP. They provide as many ports as we need so no concern for not having a port for dynmap and a port for SimpleWebServer, etc.

FTP access
Both hosts provide full FTP file access with the Multicraft control panel

Storage
BeastNode: 5GB SSD (can give up to 10GB for free) After than they charge $1.25 per gigabyte per month
MCProHosting: Unlimited SSD space

MySQL
Both hosts provide a free MySQL server (I don't think we need it (at least not yet) but just incase)

Uptime
Both hosts say 99.99% uptime (meaning the server will rarely be down).

As far as I see, MCProHosting will be a better choice. I don't mind hosting a server without a dedicated IP. Also, the storage is an issue. The server currently uses about 11GB and that will continue to grow. BeastNode charges a lot for it, but MCProHosting gives unlimited. The biggest problem of all (at least for me :P) is money. I'm only 14 and I don't have any money to pay for the server. I don't have a way to earn it. I would use Google AdSense and some other stuff but you have to be 18 for it ): MCProHosting is cheaper so that's good. They provide everything I think will be good (with the exception of a dedicated IP but I don't mind that). Hopefully, I can earn money to pay for it but until then, it looks like MineCore stays on my computer. At least soon I might be getting Verizon FIOS Quantum internet. It's faster and will help with sending more data to players faster. I'm also working on some way to protect from being DDoS attacked. It hasn't happened yet but I'm not convinced that it will never happen. I put up a poll on the page so you can vote on what you think. Cya all :)

P.S. Don't worry about the IP changing. After switching, I would host a temporary server at the same IP on my home computer. You'd spawn in a bedrock room where you can't build and there will be signs that tell you the IP changed and we've switched to a host.

The End

UPDATE

MineCore has not reached it's end. It is up again. The download was deleted. Have fun again! The server will stay up again. (This means you can ignore the next paragraph about the server ending :P)

MineCore has reached it's end. The server will not be up. The reason for this is not going to be specified in the post. The owner is moving to MineLife (Imagine Nation server). However, if you still wish to continue using the MineCore world (for your server or single player), you may download it and/or all server files at http://my.rapidshare.com/Minecraft1415926/6202

New Side Server (Vanilla)

A new side server has been created for MineCore. It is a Vanilla server for adventure maps. Players are allowed to go on and play different adventure maps at any time it is up. One thing is that the new Vanilla server may have a lot of downtime. I'll try to make sure it is up throughout most of the day with some good adventure map. The maps may be reloaded occasionally. The MOTD (Message of The Day) for the side server will be a colored message with the name/title of the adventure map. Have fun :D

New Player Rank System

I now have to announce that we will now be using a new player ranking system on the server. We recently had issues with rank and the way be promote players now will have to change.

All new players must start as Default regardless how well we know them. The exception is the Imagine Nation members. All Imagine Nation members from before will start as Trusted.

All new players must do something to to get that rank. In order to get Trusted, new players must now have played on the server and followed rules in an expected way for a week and they have to have to tell an admin about 2 players in the Trusted rank who think he/she should be Trusted. The admin will interview the 2 players. If both players think the new player will become Trusted. If there is excessive rule breaking, the new player will be demoted to Default.

New Plugin : mcMMO

Today I just got a new plugin for MineCore. It's mcMMO. I also got the stats GUI so you can see your stats on the right side of the screen. Using this plugin you can level up skills for all kinda of cool stuff. Have fun!

New Plugin : GriefPrevention

Hi everyone. Recently we have been having problems with griefing. One player had their house burned down twice. After this has happened it has really motivated me to work much harder on getting the anti-griefing plugin ready.

Our new plugin is GriefPrevention. It allows you to use a wooden shovel to claim land. All you need to do is right click a corner and right click another corner to create a claim. You may buy claim blocks to get more (Default: 100000 Max: 500000). To buy claim blocks for $1 each: type /buyclaimblocks <amount>. To sell claim blocks for $0.50 each type /sellclaimblocks <amount>.

I sure hope this helps you all with griefing problems. Remember: Do not claim something you didn't build. If you do it will result in either jail or a temporary ban.

New Creative World

There is a new creative world for MineCore! We now have a normal world, a nether world, and an end world all in creative mode. This is designed for players who want to play the game in creative mode on the server. If you have something you want to build in creative mode or you just want to fly around exploring, this is the world to do that in. Have fun!

Normal Creative World

- Name: creative
- Command: /mw goto creative

Nether Creative World

- Name: creative_nether
- Command: /mw goto creative_nether

The End Creative World

- Name: creative_the_end
- Command: /mw goto creative_the_end

Have fun using creative mode!

Happy April Fool's Day

Hi Guys, today is April Fool's Day. I just wanted to let you know that we can have a fun day of trolling! I won't be very strict about trolling today but please don't troll in ways that will make others feel bad, damage property, or waste valuable resources. I hope that today is fun for you and you like to have some fun for trolling. Cya on the server!

Lag Issue Fixed !

Attention all players of MineCore! I have some extremely good news: The lag issue has been fixed! I finally found the issue and which plugin was causing it. I was trying to remove plugins 1 by 1 (mostly plugins using block events). I finally found that the culprit was SimpleLogger! This "simple" annoying plugin was causing all the lag. I removed it completely and now the server runs fine, responds to all block changes, and allows you to pick up your drops immediately!

It's an exciting moment for everyone. I'm hoping that we have none or very few issues left so I can get them fixed ASAP and remove that BETA from the MOTD.

Anyway, in summary, the lag is fixed and the server should work fine! Cya on and have fun with no lag :)

Lag Issue Is Being Worked On

We've recently been having a lag issue. The server has had some block lag and entity lag. It's all an internet issue since my computer is fast (Intel Core i7 (8 Core Processor)). I've tested the server ping and get 0ms. I also just tried rebooting the server. Hopefully the issue is fixed. Enjoy!

DynMap Issue Fixed

This time, the issue fixed is that the DynMap doesn't show up embeded in the webpage. I couldn't get it to work that way. The solution was to make the DynMap page a link directly to the MineCore DynMap IP. If you don't like it as much this way, I'm sorry about it. I'd rather us have a DynMap on a separate link rather than no DynMap at all. Enjoy!

MineCore - BETA

MineCore BETA is finally ready. Players are now allowed to join the server and start gathering resources/mining/building/doing stuff to help get ready for going public.

Whitelist is off and server is up. I may need to put the server down a little from time to time during BETA so I can fix some plugin issues. I want all issues fixed before going public.

When you're on, you may start building and gathering resources. We also need some resources to build a nice spawn for the server before going public. If anyone could help with that, that would be great and helpful.

For now, do some stuff, enjoy, and get ready for going public!

P.S. I'm sorry for the whitelisting issue. I was working on the server this morning and forgot to turn it off. Sorry and I won't forget to do that again. The whitelist goes off now and stays off. Cya!
